Carbon build up

Hey there fellow kawi riders!
During the engine disassembly of my 04 636, due to shot 3rd gear, I found out that there is a lot of carbon build up on the exhaust side. The valves also have weird white-ish build up on them. As far as the mods go the bike is running only an akrapovič slip on, which has been shortened by one of the previous owners. I have, in the last few months of owning it, seen some carbon "deposit" on the tip of the exhaust, which is easy to wipe off. To my knowledge the ecu hasn't been flashed either. I would very much appreciate any input on this, as I don't want to through the process of replacing the tranny and putting the engine back in, only to realize the engine isn't good anymore.

Looks normal to me.

Things to check- air filter is clean, spark plugs are not too old.

The higher octane fuels can leave more carbon deposits in a lower compression engine designed for 87 octane fuel.

You could have a dyno run done to check air-fuel ratios and to see if the horsepower is normal.

A cheaper option is a compression test for each cylinder.

I'm assuming it's probably the air/fuel ratio, as I'm getting pretty bad gas mileage, I'm seeing about low 120 out of full tank, and that's if I'm not opening it much. And I also weigh about 160 with gear, so not a heavy fella either. Just as another info to what it might be, I added a picture of the spark plug which doesn't look too well. The other 3 look pretty much the same. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated :)
